I am a founder and owner of Your Fitness Network. And as an owner of multiple businesses, staying fit and healthy is a priority. It gives me the balance and stamina I need not only in the office and for the communities that I serve, but also and most importantly, for my family and me. As a wife and mother of 2 girls, who are stellar athletes themselves in soccer and basketball, I need a lot of energy.
I love and have weight trained for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a bodybuilder for 8 years, competing in Figure, Physique and (mostly) Bodybuilding categories. I use fitness competitions for accountability. Shows give me a goal to keep me focused and on point for most months throughout the year so I can be show ready and watch what I put into my body. As well, it’s somewhere I can apply all the hard work I put in at the gym, training studios or anywhere I use to stay fit.
I am a servant leader, highly involved in my community, especially my natural communities. I serve on a Board as Secretary for my town’s local Soccer Club; as the President in CT for National Black MBA Association; as an active and financial member of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and sit on the CT statewide Board of the Black Business Alliance. Being an active constituent in my community is important in my lifelong pursuit to positively influence, educate and volunteer my God-given talents for the betterment of others.
Your Fitness Network came together because 2 professional bodybuilders shared a similar passion for making fitness a lifestyle and working around most people’s challenge with it, which is time and know-how. It’s so important because fitness impacts all areas of life. My hope is to influence the thinking and mindsets of all through education to undo bad perceptions or even habits that run rampant in the fitness industry. I want folks to get excited about their health and change those statistics that show 2/3rd Americans are overweight or obese. I have a saying I created that fully represents my entire philosophy about the importance of your health and fitness: “Your heart is the most important muscle in your body. Have a healthy heart because without your health, you have nothing.”
